The aim of Social Work Resources is to promote social welfare and provide effective care and support to meet the needs of vulnerable people in South Lanarkshire. In partnership with community planning partners, voluntary and independent provider organisations, we offer a range of services designed to enable, support, improve and protect the health and social care of people using our services. South Lanarkshire Council and NHS Lanarkshire have made a committee to Keep The Promise and put children’s rights at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for two motivated and enthusiastic care experienced young people to help drive the change our care family deserves so that every child grows up loved, safe, respected, and able to realise their full potential. The post holder will work to ensure that young people with care experience are empowered and supported to have their voices heard and to become champions for positive change. You will work directly with young people as part of the Champions Board development and work to facilitate care experience young people’s involvement in Champions Board activities. You will represent the voice of the Champions Board and be a member of The Promise Board chaired be the chief executive of the council As a member of the Children and Families Social Work resources in partnership with other services and agencies, you will support and offer challenge to the development of practice and culture of how we can improve the lives of our care experienced population. You will also play a key role in supporting the wider aspirations of the Independent Care Review “Keeping the Promise” to children, young people and their families in South Lanarkshire. You will work in a small team and be based across south Lanarkshire council for example in the Continuing Care Hub, children’s houses and headquarters You will be expected to work out of hours including weekends and some weekend working You must answer the following questions as part of your application. Please briefly outline your understanding of Independent Care Review in Scotland and the findings entitled “The promise” Please tell us about what you believe are the barriers that care experience people face. Please outline briefly what you can bring to the post to help improve our understanding of care experienced young people.
