SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Year 5 – Severe Dyslexia)

Hours 8:30am – 4:00pm
Pay: £115 per day via Umbrella
An outstanding Prep School in Westminster is seeking a dedicated and confident SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with severe dyslexia. This part-time role (3 days per week) is to start as soon as possible and continue on a long-term basis.
The Role
1. Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 5 boy with severe dyslexia
2. Assist with reading, writing, and spelling interventions, adapting materials to suit his learning style
3. Encourage focus, participation, and positive behaviour in class
4. Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement effective support strategies
5. Maintain a proactive approach in the classroom, stepping in where necessary to help manage behaviour
The Ideal Candidate
6. Experienced supporting pupils with specific learning difficulties (SpLD), particularly dyslexia
7. Firm, calm, and consistent — able to step in confidently to de-escalate and manage challenging behaviour
8. Proactive and adaptable, with strong communication skills
9. Patient, empathetic, and committed to helping the pupil succeed both academically and emotionally
10. Experience in a prep or primary school setting would be an advantage
