Purpose of the role:
The role is to ensure maintenance support is continuously provided to the Management Team and production
team to achieve a sustained improvement in overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and Maintenance KPIs, whilst
assisting the production team in attaining ”best in class” status.
5S Tools six sigma and Lean tools will be maintained and used by the maintenance supervisor to ensure the site
moves to best in class.
The position is to be measured through achieving agreed safety, environmental, and other operational performance levels, whilst constantly seeking improvements for sustained business efficiencies.
Key accountabilities:
The primary activity of the role primarily involves managing maintenance on site and for ensuring that you and
the site team follow Heidelberg Materials’ safe systems of works outlined in the IMS.
The performance emphasis for this area includes;
Health and Safety: Operating to the highest level of health and safety objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials Health and Safety Plan. Create, implement & communicate a plan of continuous improvement on site. Creating and adhering to risk assessments, safe systems of works and permits to work.
Environmental: Operating to the highest level of environmental objectives in line with Heidelberg's IMS procedures
Contractor Management: Responsible for the organization and supervision of engineering/maintenance contractors as well as the onsite TPM team.
Compliance: Ensure all statutory legislation and company regulations are adhered to with respect to all operational activities.
Job requirements :
The role holder is expected:
* to comply with all aspects of the HeidelbergMaterials Compliance Policy
* be available for maintenance shutdowns and weekends unless rotas/permissions are granted, time off or overtime to be agreed before commencement.
* to ensure that all the business/operations are performed following instructions and procedures and in such a way to prevent any fraudulent activities from taking place
* to comply with Health & Safety Legislation and to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant codes of practice.
* to update all areas of knowledge as required to carry out the job with maximum effectiveness and to attend training/development courses as and when required
* to comply with all aspects of the HR Policies and Procedures of the Company
* Fill in for other site supervisors during holidays, sickness, overtime, discipline, rotas, callouts and training requirements.
* communicate engineering plans to operations staff directly influenced by work activities
* communicate with and manage external contractors to provide an effective engineering service, with specific emphasis to mobile maintenance.
* assess, prioritise and manage workloads using existing maintenance management systems.
* maintain relevant engineering records for maintenance activities carried out.
* develop and maintain the existing computerised maintenance management system to include the correct frequency & work content for equipment requiring PPM.
* using the maintenance management system, ensure all schedules are completed. (pressure systems, general inspections, safety critical items)
Education/Qualification
* Proficient and competent in mechanical engineering
* T ime served apprentice or NVQ maintenance engineering or experience in a maintenance engineering-based role
* Basic understanding and skills of Microsoft Office / IT Literate
* Electrical engineering proficiency is a bonus
* Full Heidelberg training can be given but experience in a similar role would be advantageous
