About this opportunity

Do you enjoy meeting new people and helping them create memorable moments as they celebrate significant milestones? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Westmorland and Furness Registration Service is looking for a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team. As a Ceremony Officer, you will play a key role in officiating and overseeing a range of statutory and non‑statutory ceremonies — including marriages, civil partnerships and citizenship ceremonies — while ensuring all legal and procedural requirements are met.

This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You will work flexibly as part of a supportive team, guiding and assisting couples and families throughout their ceremony and helping to ensure everything runs smoothly. The role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, helping people mark their special moments with confidence and care.

Officiating at ceremonies in some of the most scenic locations across Westmorland and Furness, you will regularly drive to a wide range of approved venues as part of your duties.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and who brings exceptional communication and organisational skills to the role. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply and help us continue to deliver ceremonies of the highest standard.

Who we are looking for…

We are seeking someone who is friendly, approachable, and able to put people at ease quickly. You will be an excellent communicator with the confidence to speak clearly and professionally in public.

A keen eye for detail and an accurate, methodical approach to your work are essential. You will bring strong organisational skills to maintain precise records, alongside the ability to understand and apply rules, procedures, and legal requirements effectively.

For full details of the essential and desirable criteria for this role, please refer to the post specification and role profile below.
