Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for Graduates due to register in 2025 and experienced qualified nurses to work within our supportive teams. There are Band 5 positions available across diverse specialties. Personal development into this role will be supported through the Practice Development Team with a comprehensive preceptorship programme. Ward Sisters and Matrons and ward colleagues will support you through both formal training and mentoring to maximise your potential. Ward opportunities
* Robin’s Ward: specialist surgery ward caring for children requiring craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate, plastics, ENT and Neurosurgery. The Theatre Direct Admission service also runs from Robin’s Ward. There are opportunities for gaining specialist skills and further development.
* Kamran’s Ward: cares for children of all ages receiving treatment for cancer or haematology conditions. Lots of opportunity for professional development within this specialty; the team is well established, supportive and progressive.
* Bellhouse/Drayson Ward: provides care for children aged 0-12 years with medical conditions, specialising in Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Cardiology and Respiratory medicine as elective or emergency admissions. Close links with Children’s CDU and Children’s ED. The team is cohesive and supportive in providing high quality care on a busy acute ward.
* Children’s CDU: a 24-hour unit linked with the Emergency Department to provide care for children from various specialties who need further assessment, observation, continuation of treatment or to await results. CDU is friendly, cohesive and supports development.
* Melanie’s Ward: cares for older patients from 12 years through to transition at 18 years. Work is varied and interesting across Oxford’s specialties, with emphasis on psychosocial and mental health aspects. The team is versatile and supportive with strong teamwork.
* Tom’s Ward: large, busy surgical unit caring for children requiring elective and emergency surgical treatment. Specialities include Neonatal surgery, orthopaedics, spinal and general surgery. Clinical Educators support professional development.
* Ambulatory care service: sees patients in two Outpatient departments and the Children’s Daycare Ward. Day case surgery, investigations or treatments for a wide variety of conditions. The team works efficiently and cohesively to manage busy throughput.

Education, training and qualification
Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse (Part 1, 8, 12 or 15 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register depending on area of practice) or National Certification in area of Practice.
* UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an NMC revalidation or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
* Post-graduate qualification related to an area of practice.
Leadership and Management
Desirable criteria
* Previous experience in the relevant specialty.
