Job Description:
We are St Helens Borough Council
Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester, and Lancashire, St Helens is a modernising Council which is passionate and ambitious for the children and families we support, our communities, and our workforce. As part of our transformation journey, we continue to build on our progress and put children firmly at the centre of our care. We can only do this because of our highly valued, skilled, and supported workforce.
Making a Difference as Senior Social Worker
The Halton and St Helens Emergency Duty Team provides an out-of-hours response to emergency situations for People's Services, Mental Health Services, Homelessness for Vulnerable People, Youth Offending, and Asylum Seekers. We provide a point of contact for advice and, where necessary, an immediate emergency service to individuals and families experiencing crisis.
The primary office base is located at the Municipal Building in Widnes. The service operates on a shift rota basis, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and after midnight on-call working from home.
The team uses a hybrid shift working model, allowing some work from home during weekdays and overnight shifts, depending on circumstances, but being office-based during weekend day and evening shifts.
As a member of the Halton & St Helens EDT Service, you will be part of a skilled and professional team supported by experienced colleagues and the Team Manager.
Could you be who we are looking for?
Do you have the knowledge, skills, and experience to deliver high-quality services to vulnerable children and adults, including Mental Health Act Assessments?
Are you qualified in Social Work with a minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience?
Do you have awareness of legislative and procedural issues related to safeguarding?
Can you operate with a high level of professional autonomy?
If so, we want to hear from you.
