The Floating Support Service is a locality-based service providing a supportive service to households across Greater Manchester, in temporary accommodation who are homeless. The service offers a strengths-based approach to help households stabilise their lives and move forward positively into permanent rehousing. Many of those accessing this service may have vulnerabilities or complex needs. The role holder will be empathetic, practical and outcome-focused in leading a team of staff delivering a holistic, strength-based service to all households.
The Move on workers will support Managers with in-house transfers and offers through Manchester Move and the Private Rented Sector to ensure the process is fluid and successful. Move on support helps families spend less time in temporary accommodation.

Support Workers must have an awareness and understanding of homelessness and its impact on families and individuals. The role requires personal resilience, a keen and committed desire to help others and a solution-focused outlook. The role can be challenging and may involve issues such as loss of tenancy, debt, domestic violence, substance misuse, and health problems.
The role holder will have a good understanding of safeguarding and will demonstrate excellent partnership working with the voluntary sector, agencies, health partners and organisations.
Essential experience: understanding of homelessness legislation would be beneficial but is not essential; full training will be provided.
