Advanced Paramedic Practitioner & Trainee Advanced Paramedic Practitioner
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Advanced Paramedic Practice (APP) Team in WAST as either a qualified APP or a Trainee APP (TAPP).
The pace of Advanced Paramedic Practice in Wales is developing significantly, and applications are sought from qualified APPs (band 7) wishing to work for WAST, and MSc students currently funded by WAST to undertake their MSc program to progress as TAPPs (band 6).
TAPPs will work rotationally as patient-facing clinicians to deliver care, access patient pathways, and manage caseloads in emergency, urgent, and wider unscheduled care settings.
A separate advert will be released later this year for candidates interested in MSc and TAPP roles.
Multiple TAPP roles are available across the Trust, with placements as close to candidates' home locations as possible.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide advanced clinical interventions and drug therapies.
2. Act as an independent practitioner using advanced skills to assess, diagnose, treat, and develop care plans.
3. Work towards providing expert advanced practice and leadership in unscheduled care across professional and organizational boundaries.
4. Serve as an expert advisor for patients, carers, and operational clinicians.
5. Contribute to the development of unscheduled care to enhance patient services through research and development methodologies.
6. Respond to emergency and urgent calls, including driving under blue light conditions.
Both APP and TAPP positions are permanent; TAPP roles will develop into full APP roles upon successful completion of training. Staff who do not complete their MSc may have opportunities to transfer to vacant or relief band 6 paramedic roles.
Welsh language skills are desirable; applications from Welsh and English speakers are equally welcome.
