Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Complex Healthcare Assistant to join our team (Must be a car driver). The ideal candidate will provide high-quality support to patients within care homes and home care settings, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. See below information about the package and Responsibilities:
* 17 year old young man with cerebral palsy who has significant disabilities. He lives at home with his parents and younger sister in a beautifully adapted home. We are looking for after school care and some weekend care. The weekend care will probably need 2 carers if they go out. After school care may only need 1 person as parents are around to be there to help with transfers if needed.
* Locations: The home is near Abingdon OX13.
* We would be pretty flexible about shift patterns! Probably three days a week after school- so 3.30pm -9pm roughly- and 1-2 Saturdays or Sundays a month for approx. 6 hours- flexible timings.
* It is more about finding a person that the family gel with. Lots of client specific training will be provided. There will be a need to carry out physiotherapy, be willing to do personal care, be creative and proactive with activities to keep him entertained including sensory play, foot massages and being outside and taking him swimming in the family pool (with a family member or physio present). He is hoisted for all transfers and uses a wheelchair. He needs careful supervision when eating but eats orally and might need to be helped with guiding a spoon to his mouth. He has 2 younger sisters so the carers must be happy to muck in with family life whilst also being mindful of the family’s need for privacy. They need to drive their own car as public transport to the house is poor and also be able to drive his WAV – Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles.
* Animals - One lovely well-behaved lab.
* 2 carers at weekends so that they can take him out. Or if we cant find 2 people, then 1 person but that person should be willing to go on walks with him.
