Overview
Band 4 Acute Medicine Team – Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner, 36 hours per week, Permanent.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner to join our Acute Medicine Physiotherapy team. This team provides physiotherapy assessment and treatment for a broad range of patients across the Acute Medical Unit and General Medicine wards, with a key aim of supporting individuals to regain independent physical function.
Responsibilities
* Allocate a delegated patient caseload by a registered physiotherapist and, where appropriate, work independently by assessing patients’ needs, adapting treatment plans, and delivering care within your scope of practice.
* Progress patients, reassess outcomes, and contribute to discharge planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team on your allocated ward.
* Provide nonclinical support to the physiotherapy team, including equipment ordering, referring patients to primary care services, and assisting with the collation of statistical data for patient activity audits.
* Support the development of Band 3 Physiotherapy Support Workers as appropriate.
* Engage with Physiotherapy Services’ appraisal, supervision, and continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities.
* Participate in the regular weekend working rota (approximately 1 weekend in 9) with days off during the week.
Qualifications and experience
* Evidence of relevant clinical experience across a range of areas, ideally including Acute and/or General Medicine or other medical services.
* Current or recent experience as a Band 3 Therapy Support Worker or as a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner is desirable.
