Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated, resilient PSHE & English Teacher to join a specialist alternative provision in North London, supporting secondary-aged students who are unable to access mainstream education.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for a teacher passionate about re-engaging vulnerable young people and helping them rebuild confidence, resilience, and a positive relationship with learning.
The Role
You will teach students aged 11-16 in small groups, many of whom have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, or disrupted educational backgrounds. A flexible, patient, and relationship-focused approach is essential.
The role combines PSHE leadership with support for English and literacy development.
Key responsibilities:
* Deliver engaging PSHE lessons covering wellbeing, relationships, personal development, and life skills
* Support the delivery of English, improving students' reading, writing, and communication skills
* Plan and adapt differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of needs and abilities
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and personal growth
* Build strong, trusting relationships to re-engage students in learning
* Work collaboratively with pastoral staff and support teams to ensure consistent student support
The Ideal Candidate
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Experience teaching PSHE, English, or related secondary subjects
* Experience working with SEMH learners, behavioural needs, or in alternative provision (highly desirable)
* Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, consistent approach
* Empathetic, resilient, and committed to supporting young people
* Passionate about both academic progress and personal development
