Financial Controller (NO1)

4 day week (30 hours) - site based
Broster Buchanan are supporting an established Wisbech business as they look to recruit their NO1 finance lead.
This is a super varied position where you will be at the heart of decision making and once bedded in will join the board (starting as Financial Controller - progressing to Finance Director)
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller that's equally happy switching between statutory returns and strategic planning and enjoys leading and developing a medium size team.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver accurate and timely financial and management information, including operating performance and statistical data.
Lead the preparation, maintenance and monthly update of the Company Business Plan, including sales forecasting.
Oversee month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger integrity.
Manage cash flow on a daily basis and forecast future funding requirements.
Oversee invoice finance facilities, loan stock drawdowns and compliance with funding covenants.
Ensure VAT, statutory reporting and all regulatory obligations are met on time.
Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to the Board on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Liaise with external stakeholders including UK and Hong Kong auditors, banks, insurers and advisors.
Oversee insurance programmes, pension schemes and outsourced payroll providers.
Review inventory levels, funding impact and present findings at inventory meetings.
Lead, manage and develop the finance team, including the Finance Manager and ledger staff.
Maintain oversight of company-wide systems (finance, payroll, HR, IT, quality).
Support strategic planning and new business initiatives.
Fulfil company secretarial responsibilities, including Companies House filings and Board documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
Advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS.
Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with senior stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly to non-financial audiences.
Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to work under pressure to tight deadline
Experience & Knowledge
Experience in VAT compliance and statutory reporting.
Strong commercial awareness and financial analysis capability.
Experience producing management accounts for multiple entities
