Sea & Air Freight Supervisor – Lichfield
Our client, who are independent Freight Forwarder are looking for a Sea & Air Freight Supervisor to join their team in Lichfield. You will be responsible for the team’s delivery of operational activities, in accordance with targets set, to contribute to achievement of the company vision and overall business objectives, reaching targets/KPIs set year on year. Consistently perform to high quality standards.
Overall Responsibility is to oversee the Sea and Air freight operators’ main responsibility in completing important daily operation tasks predominantly for Sea and Air freight. You would carry out this role as well as overseeing the activities of other team members.

Hours: Monday to Friday – 08:30am to 17:30pm*
*Hybrid working available after successful completion of 6-month probation (3 days in office)
Operations
1. Ensure that productivity and profitability goals for team are met.
2. Have a fundamental understanding of our operational systems.
3. As and when applicable, provide local/external market conditions feedback on the Sea and Air industry to the Operations Director which will feed into the monthly operational board meeting.
4. Utilise Top 10 Accounts report to continually evaluate the development of your departmental client base, and the revenue distribution amounts and % of top clients, and work towards goal of balanced customer base.
5. Quoting, covering and inputting a range Sea and Air freight shipments on our TMS.
6. Work closely with the UK dept to arrange and handle more UK haulage in house for Sea and Air shipments.
7. Obtain prices and solutions for Sea and Air freight business for prospects of other Sales BDM’s.
8. Use of carrier portals and other relevant software to the dept.
9. Close monitoring of Sea and Air shipments. Problem solving, high levels of customer service with both clients and suppliers and ensuring customer requirements are met
10. Ensure effective use of the CRM system.
11. Logging quotes and pro-actively chasing them to convert to shipments.
12. Liaising with the customs dept to complete customs documentation for Sea & Air shipments.
13. Proactively liaising with customers, agents and suppliers.
Service Development
14. Develop supplier/carrier relationships to ensure that we are getting the best rates and service.
15. Help to source new suppliers / carriers and form new partnerships.
16. Participate in the regular sales meeting and departmental team meetings.
17. Assist in marketing activity to promote the service by email, mailshot, calls.
18. Visit existing clients to further develop and strengthen relationships.
Compliance:
19. Promote compliance by diligently following all company policies and regulations and in being the role model of integrity and pride for all team.
20. Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations that affect your department
21. Maintain a positive relationship with the departmental managers and support all compliance efforts and training.

22. Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your team.
23. Be involved and suggest system/process improvements.
24. Set the tone of this environment within your department.
Supervision:
25. Assisting and training others in the team
26. First point of contact / go to person for queries in the team or customers for escalation.
27. Ensure team is resourced effectively
28. Prompt query resolution both operational and administrative
29. Taking on the more complicated enquiries or queries etc
30. Close collaboration with Sea & Air Freight Development Manager
31. Conduct regular agile performance management and continuous professional development
Requirements:
32. Experience as a Supervisor in a freight forwarding setting for a UK based forwarder
33. Experience in Sea and Air freight
34. Right to work in the UK
