The Role: Electrical Assembly & Test Technician Are you an experienced Electrical Assembly & Test Technician with strong practical wiring skills? This is a superb opportunity to join a highly respected UK engineering manufacturer specialising in complex industrial machinery. You’ll play a key part in the build and testing of bespoke automated equipment, ensuring systems are safe, correctly wired, and fully functional before commissioning. Based near St Neots, this permanent, workshop-focused role requires a blend of hands-on electrical ability, problem-solving, and teamwork. You’ll work on full machine builds, support test activities, and assist with electrical improvements and site installations as required. Main Responsibilities (Electrical Assembly & Test Technician): • Wire complete machinery — motors, sensors, actuators, control devices and interconnects • Perform functional testing including I/O checks and safe operation validation • Support electrical fault-finding during build and testing phases • Work from electrical schematics, layout drawings, and detailed BOMs • Assist with electrical installation and upgrade projects across factory areas • Contribute to new machine installations and continuous improvement activities • Collaborate closely with mechanical, controls and test engineers to support machine integration • Maintain safe and efficient working practices, ensuring high-build quality standards Skills & Experience (Electrical Assembly & Test Technician): • Hands-on experience with machine wiring or industrial electrical assembly • Able to confidently interpret electrical drawings and documentation • Familiar with motors, drives, sensors and control panel components • Practical fault-finding skills across low-voltage machinery • Able to adapt between machine build tasks and factory support work • Strong communication skills and a commitment to quality workmanship Desirable (Electrical Assembly & Test Technician): • Electrical installation background (industrial/commercial/domestic) • Recognised qualifications such as 18th Edition or similar • Exposure to PLC/HMI systems or drive commissioning tools • Experience within machinery, automation or OEM manufacturing environments Salary & Working Hours (Electrical Assembly & Test Technician): • Competitive hourly rate based on experience • 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday • Set working hours between 7:30am – 5:00pm depending on the day • Regular overtime available at 1.5x hourly rate (Mon–Fri Saturday mornings) Benefits (Electrical Assembly & Test Technician): • Annual company performance bonus • 20 days holiday bank holidays (increasing with length of service) • Life assurance & sick pay scheme • Company pension • Workwear provided • Subsidised refreshments via vending machines • Company staff events and team activities If the position of Electrical Assembly & Test Technician is of interest, please click Apply.
