Position Summary: This position is for a Mechanical Apprentice who will work a multi‑year contract on a United Kingdom (UK) nuclear infrastructure programme for which Bechtel is providing the Project Management and Engineering services. The project is at the conceptual design phases driving a multi‑billion‑pound investment in nuclear and non‑nuclear facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support Mechanical Engineers and the wider design team in planning, design, execution, and close‑out of mechanical activities.
* Assist in detailed design engineering efforts, including production of technical documents, execution of engineering schedule activities, quality checks, and overall project delivery.
* Prepare weekly/monthly reports and activities, develop and utilize databases, and support reporting processes.
* Shadow experienced professionals, participate in training sessions and workshops, and contribute innovative ideas to ongoing projects.
* Conduct research and analysis as required.
Education and Experience:
* Educated to A Level standard or equivalent, meeting degree entry requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* General understanding of mechanical design processes and deliverables.
* Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
* Relevant industry experience.
* Must be able to obtain and retain SC Clearance for access to AWE site.
Other: The role will be based primarily at Aldermaston, UK, with occasional travel to Bechtel’s London office. Work arrangement includes three days per week on site and two days working from home or the Bechtel office. The position is open to United Kingdom nationals only and subject to a successful interview and agreement on terms and conditions of employment.
