Superior Recruitment Group has a fantastic opportunity available in Somerset for a Commercial Director.
This is a permanent position.
The Commercial Director reports directly to the Operations Director and is responsible for delivering all commercial and contractual aspects of the contract, including matters across the portfolio of contracts such as the master agreement, reporting, project controls (including planning), payments, and finance.
Responsibilities
1. Develop the commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with internal legal entities, and establish clear goals, deliverables, targets, and objectives.
2. Provide NEC expertise and support to entities and project teams to facilitate understanding of key terms.
3. Review, analyze, and challenge monthly project performance reports, including validation of receivables, WIP, and working capital, ensuring consistency and best practices.
4. Analyze underperformance across contracts and implement intervention plans to mitigate risks and improve performance, including resolving disallowed costs.
5. Establish a commercial operating culture through standardized reporting, controls, and performance data, ensuring compliance and transparency.
6. Manage and own resolution of disputes across the portfolio, ensuring timely resolution.
7. Ensure timely clearance of EWNs and CEs, and conduct reviews in Risk Registers.
8. Define commercial organizational requirements, responsibilities, and oversee recruitment, coaching, training, and development of the commercial team, ensuring clear communication across business entities.
9. Participate in performance reviews, work with teams to mitigate withheld amounts monthly.
10. Review and validate rates, margin models, cash-flow forecasts, and all commercial aspects of tenders, ensuring acceptable terms and margins.
11. Ensure correct application of the AFP process and timely submissions to clients.
12. Provide commercial leadership during tender reviews and contract handovers, supporting operational transitions.
13. Lead stakeholder management to mitigate losses and develop claim strategies for financial recovery.
14. Collaborate with the Operations Director to develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
15. Ensure timely delivery of plans and close gaps in deliverables with business entities.
16. Work with other Commercial Directors on initiatives to deliver measurable commercial benefits.
17. Conduct site visits to drive performance, promote innovations, and share lessons learned.
18. Support regional commercial managers during client audits.
19. Travel 2-3 days per month to locations in Hull, Warrington, Germany, and France.
