Our mission is to help people get stronger and live longer, through weight training. Our flagship product is our personal training marketplace, operating inside commercial gym chains in the UK — we’re now ready to scale to hundreds of new gyms across the country, working with different operators. The Brawn app is how this all happens: where members book and manage sessions, track their progress, get support outside of their sessions with tailored check-ins, and PTs can manage their sessions, track their income and view their clients’ progress. Crafting these great experiences with tasteful and effective design is at the heart of this, and you’ll have a pivotal role to play in the future of Brawn. What you'll do Reporting directly into the Head of Product, you will: Rapidly prototype and iterate on mobile app features, turning ideas into testable designs within days, not weeks (hint: we’re looking to radically improve member’s gym experiences with AI) Lead user demos and feedback sessions with gym members and personal trainers to validate design decisions and gather insights Design end-to-end mobile experiences that seamlessly connect trainers and members through booking, session management, progress tracking, and payments Create high-fidelity prototypes using Figma and cutting-edge prototyping tools to test interactions, micro-animations, and user flows Run quick design experiments to optimise conversion funnels, engagement patterns, and user onboarding flows Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure designs are technically feasible and can be shipped rapidly Analyse user behaviour and feedback to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement in real-time Maintain and evolve our design system to ensure consistency across the platform while enabling rapid feature development Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, from technical teams to gym chain partners What we're looking for 3-5 years of mobile product design experience, preferably at early-stage startups or fast-moving product teams Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including advanced prototyping, component systems, and collaborative workflows Strong portfolio demonstrating rapid iteration cycles, user-centered design process, and shipped mobile products Comfort with ambiguity and ability to make design decisions quickly with limited specifications Experience conducting user research including usability testing, user interviews, and demo sessions Understanding of mobile design patterns for iOS and Android, including platform-specific guidelines Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform design decisions Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate design decisions and present to diverse audiences Startup mentality — comfortable wearing multiple hats and adapting to changing priorities Bonus points Experience designing for marketplace or two-sided platforms Experience with modern prototyping tools like Lovable, Bolt or Magic Patterns Passion for fitness, the gym or strength training Experience with user onboarding optimisation and conversion rate improvement Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles Previous experience at Series A or earlier stage startups Based in the midlands or north-west of the UK What we offer Competitive salary of £50-60K pa, depending on experience Flexible working arrangements — hybrid model with our office in Manchester Top-tier equipment - latest MacBook Pro, external monitors, and any design tools you need 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Direct impact - your designs will be used by thousands of gym members across the UK Application If this all sounds like something which would excite you, please apply.
