Our client in Burnley are increasing their headcount in the Lab dept and now recruiting a WC Lab Technician to join their existing team. THE ROLE: Perform sampling and laboratory testing of incoming raw materials. Conduct in-process and final product testing of cementitious powders, pastes, paints, and creams. Testing includes use of equipment for obtaining setting times, Viscosity, pH, Moisture content analysis, Density, Flexural and compressive strength testing, Sieve analysis, Flow characteristics (slump/spread) of products Carry out Initial Type Testing (ITT) and Factory Production Control (FPC) testing for CE-marked construction products. Assist with QC release procedures and manage product quarantine where non-conformance is identified. Accurately input QC test data into Mapeis corporate quality and traceability software systems. Maintain test records, calibration logs, and material certificates in compliance with internal and external audit standards. Investigate and support resolution of customer complaints by conducting lab-based analysis to verify product-related issues. Adhere to laboratory safety procedures and COSHH regulations at all times. Ensure cleanliness, organisation, and maintenance of the laboratory environment and equipment. Performing other duties as may be directed by the Senior Chemist EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Strong working knowledge of physical and chemical testing procedures. Strong understanding of laboratory test methods including viscosity, pH, moisture, density, strength, flow and setting time. Familiarity with CE marking requirements and quality systems (ISO 9001 or similar). Competency in data entry and use of laboratory management or ERP systems. Ability to interpret test results, identify trends or anomalies, and take appropriate action. Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, technical, and customer service. QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalent laboratory experience in lieu of formal qualifications will be considered. GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science (Grade C/4 or above). Minimum 2 years experience in a quality control or product testing laboratory environment (cementitious or chemical products desirable).
