The Role
We are seeking a motivated Geoenvironmental Consultant with 3:4 years experience to join a growing environmental and geotechnical consultancy based in Middlesbrough. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across brownfield development, infrastructure, and waste management.
You will play a key role in delivering site investigations, environmental assessments, and waste classification, supporting projects from initial assessment through to remediation.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake and manage Phase I and Phase II geoenvironmental site investigations
* Conduct and interpret soil and groundwater contamination assessments
* Classify soils in line with waste regulations (WM3) and support disposal strategies
* Liaise with laboratories and interpret chemical analysis data
* Prepare factual and interpretive reports, including risk assessments
* Support remediation strategy design and verification works
* Supervise site works including drilling, trial pitting, and sampling
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies
Requirements
* 3:4 years experience in a geoenvironmental or contaminated land role
* Strong knowledge of waste classification (WM3) and materials management
* Experience with site investigations and report writing
* Understanding of UK environmental legislation and guidance (e.g. EA, CLEA)
* Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related discipline
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable
* Experience with earthworks and Materials Management Plans (MMPs)
* Knowledge of remediation techniques
* Working towards or holding professional membership (e.g. CIWEM, IEMA, Geological Society)
