You will be joining a specialist engineering and scientific practice with a strong reputation in water and environmental engineering. The organisation operates across several offices in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and Scotland, delivering award‑winning and sector‑leading work in Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), Natural Flood Management (NFM), and nature-based climate resilience.The team is behind some of the most innovative drainage, retrofit SuDS, and nature-based flood intervention projects across the UK and Ireland. Their work includes recognised SuDS retrofit pilots, nationally significant NFM schemes, and strategic Stormwater Management Strategies that support sustainable future growth at county and city scale.
Your new role
As part of a dynamic and growing team, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of sustainable, nature-based and engineered drainage solutions. You will have opportunities to broaden your technical capability while working on high‑impact projects that promote climate resilience and best‑practice water management.Key responsibilities include:
1. Supporting the planning and design of SuDS, drainage, and wastewater infrastructure for development and infrastructure projects
2. Preparing Drainage Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports for planning and regulatory submissions
3. Designing surface water and foul drainage systems, including hybrid and nature-based solutions
4. Supporting delivery of innovative SuDS retrofit projects and nature-based flood interventions
5. Producing technical drawings, design calculations, and schedules using appropriate software tools
6. Liaising with local authorities, waterpanies, clients, and regulators to secure technical approvals
7. Assisting with tenders, fee proposals, and cost estimates
8. For senior candidates: leading project delivery, managing client relationships, mentoring junior staff, contributing tomercial oversight, and supporting business development
What you'll need to succeed
Essential:
9. Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
10. Experience in surface water drainage design
11. Understanding of drainage approval processes and industry standards (Sewers for Adoption, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Building Regulations)
12. Proficiency with drainage design software (MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, or Causeway Flow)
13. Experience using Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite, Civil 3D, or Site 3D
14. Strong technical report writing andmunication skills
15. Excellent organisation and attention to detail
Desirable:
16. Experience with SuDS, NFM, or nature-based drainage design
17. Experience preparing Drainage Assessments or Strategies for planning
18. Chartered or pursuing professional accreditation (ICE, Engineers Ireland, CIWEM)
19. Leadership or project management experience (for senior roles)
