Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in St Johns Hospital and Leith Treatment Centre
This post is designed to support the Chronic pain service in NHS Lothian. The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide chronic pain services at the Leith Community Treatment Centre. Anaesthesia sessions will involve managing elective and emergency surgery services at St John’s Hospital for the busy Day Case, Plastics and ENT services.
The post has arisen due to staff vacancy and predicted service expansion.
You will have completed or be close to completing your training in Anaesthesia. The post is full time with 9 direct clinical care programmed activities and 1 supporting professional activities.
St John’s Hospital has a supportive anaesthetic department that has close links with the University of Edinburgh Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. As a result, a range of opportunities exist for teaching, research and quality improvement work.
Edinburgh is a fantastic, vibrant city to work and live in, with a wide range of cultural and leisure pursuits available. Out with the city, there is easy access to the beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline.
