Job Description

Job Title: Support WorkerLocation: Flitton, Bedfordshire (MK45)Setting: Client’s Own HomePay & ShiftsPay Rate: £16.81ph (Incl.Hols)Shift Pattern:

* Part-time (20 hours per week)
* Monday to Saturday
* Day shifts
* Fixed hours

Shift Times:

* Day shifts (exact times TBC)
* Structured around planned activities and community access

Working Dates (Required Cover):Easter:

* 13th – 17th April

May Half Term:

* 25th – 29th May

Summer Holidays:

* 10th – 14th August
* 17th – 20th August
* 25th – 28th August
* 31st August
* 1st – 4th September

October Half Term:

* 26th – 30th October

Christmas Period:

* 5th – 8th January 2027

About the Role We are recruiting a dedicated and reliable Support Worker to provide 1:1 support to a young adult with an acquired brain injury within his home and community. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support a motivated and sociable individual as he continues to develop his independence and life skills. The role offers a great balance of structured support and community-based activities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships and working in dynamic environments. You will play a key role in supporting day-to-day planning, promoting independence, and providing emotional reassurance, while helping the client safely navigate daily routines and community engagement. You will also work alongside a multidisciplinary team, gaining valuable experience and contributing to a well-structured care package.About the ClientDP is a 20-year-old young adult who sustained a significant brain injury in childhood.He presents with:

* Cognitive and executive functioning difficulties
* Challenges with planning, organisation, and decision-making
* Periods of low mood and emotional sensitivity
* Occasional rigidity in thinking and difficulty adapting to change

DP has made strong progress in developing independence and enjoys:

* Community activities
* Gym sessions
* Shopping and outings
* Building life skills such as budgeting and travel

He benefits from:

* Clear structure and routine
* Consistent guidance and prompting
* Emotional support and reassurance

This is a 1:1 support package focused on continuing his progression towards independence.Your Role & Responsibilities

* Supporting daily planning and structuring of activities
* Facilitating community access (gym, shopping, outings, meals out)

Promoting independence with:

* Budgeting
* Travel
* Decision-making
* Guiding with organisation and routines
* Supporting emotional regulation and managing frustration or low mood
* Encouraging engagement in meaningful activities
* Assisting with independent living skills (meal prep, planning tasks)
* Supporting safe transitions and adapting to changes in plans
* Maintaining clear communication with the wider multidisciplinary team

Requirements & ExperienceEssential:

* Full UK Driving Licence
* Own vehicle
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to work independently
* Calm, patient, and consistent approach
* Ability to build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries

Desirable: Experience supporting:

* Acquired brain injury
* Neurodiverse needs
* Cognitive or emotional difficulties
* Experience working with young adults in the community

Understanding of:

* Emotional regulation
* Behavioural support
* Promoting independence

Training Required The following is beneficial (training can be provided if needed):

* Acquired Brain Injury awareness
* Safeguarding
* Behavioural / emotional support
* Neurodiversity awareness
