To support this, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead the financial function, ensuring robust reporting, compliance, and financial leadership. About Our Client: Our client is a recognised player within the consumer goods space, supplying products via multiple sales channels across the UK. With a central office located in Manchester, the business has recently refined its internal structure to support more agile decision-making and improve financial oversight. As part of this continued development, they are seeking a Financial Controller who can bring both strategic insight and hands-on delivery to the role. The Opportunity for the Financial Controller: This is a hands-on financial leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director, with a dotted line to a key financial stakeholder. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial rigour, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements, and managing essential financial partnerships, particularly with suppliers and service providers. This is a permanent, full-time position based onsite in Manchester, working closely with the leadership team. Key Responsibilities for the Financial Controller: Oversee all financial controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. Lead supplier negotiations, maintaining essential commercial relationships and promoting financial stability. Provide hands-on financial management including cash flow monitoring, forecasting, and month-end close. Collaborate with the Managing Director and key financial stakeholders to support ongoing operational and strategic objectives. Ensure all statutory and regulatory financial obligations are met in a timely manner. Manage a small but high-impact finance team, fostering a collaborative and delivery focused culture. Oversee outsourced payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Support on ad-hoc financial projects to improve systems, controls, and forecasting capabilities. What You’ll Need to Succeed as the Financial Controller: Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) with significant post-qualification experience. Demonstrable experience in dynamic, fast-paced environments such as manufacturing, consumer goods, or wholesale businesses. Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge, with a focus on accuracy and process improvement. Confident in supplier negotiations and commercial financial discussions. A hands-on approach with the ability to manage both strategic tasks and granular financial operations. Proven experience leading finance teams in change-oriented environments. Robust understanding of cash flow management, forecasting, and budgeting. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and build trust across the business.
