Job Purpose
This position requires a detail‑driven Paralegal to support our Legal & Compliance function during a maternity leave.
You’ll handle day‑to‑day legal support so our senior lawyers can focus on complex, strategic matters. The work is varied—spanning contracts, corporate governance administration, legal research, and regulatory support in a fast‑moving insurance environment.
This FTC is London‑based and scoped for a capable, junior paralegal who can manage routine legal workflows, escalate issues appropriately, and provide excellent internal client service.
Responsibilities
* Contract support: Review, mark‑up, and coordinate approval/signature for standard agreements (e.g., NDAs, supplier/MSA schedules, engagement letters), keeping playbooks and templates current.
* Matter intake & triage: Log and route legal requests, maintain trackers, and manage shared inboxes to SLAs.
* Legal research & memos: Produce concise, source‑linked notes on UK corporate, commercial, and regulatory topics relevant to (re)insurance operations.
* Document management: File, index, and retrieve documents; maintain matter files and registers; ensure accurate metadata and retention according to policy.
* Corporate governance admin: Support board/committee logistics, draft routine resolutions and minutes, update statutory registers, and assist with Companies House filings under supervision.
* Regulatory & compliance coordination: Help compile responses/data for routine regulatory enquiries/audits; maintain policy and procedure libraries.
* Claims & litigation support (as needed): Coordinate holds, bundles, chronologies, and liaise with external counsel on routine tasks.
* Stakeholder support: Provide clear, business‑friendly updates to internal partners; escalate risks and non‑standard positions to counsel promptly.
* Continuous improvement: Suggest and help implement process and template enhancements; contribute to knowledge base/playbooks.
Qualifications
Education/qualification: Law degree (LLB/GDL) or CILEx/CPQ (Level 3/6) (or equivalent experience).
Experience: Paralegal experience in-house or at a law firm, ideally with exposure to corporate/commercial work; (re)insurance or financial services familiarity is a plus.
Technical skills:
Confident editing in Word with redlines/track changes; strong Excel/SharePoint skills for trackers and registers.
Comfortable with e‑signature and document‑management systems.
Capabilities:
Meticulous attention to detail and organised approach to high‑volume workflows.
Clear written and verbal communication tailored to business stakeholders.
Sound judgement on when to escalate; ability to manage competing deadlines.
