Commercial Gas Engineer
Location: HMP Whitemoor, Longhill Road, March, PE15 0PR.
Salary: £43,177.30 per annum + 5% additional in recognition of weekend working.
Contract: Permanent, Full‑time, 39 hours per week shift pattern.
Responsibilities
As a Commercial Gas Engineer you will work Monday to Sunday as part of the Facilities Maintenance Team in a high‑security male prison. Your work will support a self‑contained city environment, ensuring safe and secure operation for prisoners, staff and visitors. Key duties include:
* Reactive maintenance, fault finding, and resolution of gas and related systems.
* Installation, testing, and commissioning of gas appliances and related equipment.
* Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams – plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, and administrators – to deliver a safe and nurturing environment.
* Adherence to water supply regulations and Control of Legionella Level 8 requirements.
* Contribution to the overall safety, security and rehabilitation mission of HMP Whitemoor.
Qualifications
* CCN1 – Core domestic gas safety and relevant domestic appliance units.
* COCN1 – Core commercial gas safety certificate and relevant commercial units.
* Two years experience as a heating engineer, combustion engineer or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 3 Plumber qualifications.
* Familiarity with, and ability to work to Water Supply Regulations and Control of Legionella Level 8 requirements.
* Experience of reactive maintenance, fault finding and resolution, installations, testing and commissioning.
