Job Description With responsibility for the strategic direction, operational performance and commercial success of RMS in the UK, the Managing Director (MD) will ensure alignment with the organisations broader goals whilst driving growth, profitability, and innovation. This role involves overseeing the day to day operations of the business, bringing together the RMS UK SLT to foster collaboration and drive execution across all functions. The MD is accountable for fostering a high performance culture and representing the business to external stakeholders, clients and customers. Key Responsibilities include: Executive Leadership: Serve as the executive lead for RMS in the UK, providing strategic direction and fostering a high-performance culture. Act as the focal point for all RMS UK staff include support of Aero programmes, ensuring alignment with company objectives and values. Programme Management: Assume P&L responsibility for all development and sustainment programmes within the UK part of the Integrated Warfare Systems and Solutions portfolio and the C6ISR portfolio over 20 development and sustainment programmes with a total value of $750M over 5 years Programme Oversight & Reporting: Provide programme management oversight for Aeronautics (Aero) Unmanned Air and Training & Logistics Solutions (TLS) programmes in the UK, ensuring alignment with US management teams and addressing resource deconflicting, indirect funding, and customer concerns. Business Development: Lead the expansion of the RMS UK business in all markets, including Military, Cyber, ISTAR, UAS, Commercial and other Government Agencies. Develop and implement effective business development strategies to drive growth and secure new opportunities. Financial Management: Oversee cost, schedule, technical performance, and keep-sold strategies for the RMS UK portfolio. Ensure profitability and cost-effectiveness while maintaining high-quality service delivery and meeting annual sales targets exceeding $350M. Customer Interface: Serve as the principal customer interface at the 1/2-star level for all programme execution in the UK across the RMS UK Portfolio, ensuring customer satisfaction and strong relationships. Board Representation: Actively participate on the board of Lockheed Martin UK Limited, contributing to strategic decision-making and governance. Site Management: Serve as Site General Manager for three RMS UK sites (Havant, Westbury, Gloucester) and assume health and safety/site responsibilities for an additional 13 UK sites where RMS staff are located in customer or partner facilities. Risk Management: Chair the RMS UK Monthly Operating and Programme Review Board and own the Enterprise Risk Management function for the UK division Champion continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging digital transformation tools to enhance efficiency and innovation with a “OneLM” approach. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Business, or a related field. Extensive experience in defence and aerospace, with a demonstrable experience in a leadership role, preferably within programme management, operations, or business development. Deep understanding of the defence and aerospace industry, including rotary and mission systems, C6ISR, and integrated warfare solutions. Demonstrated experience managing large / complex development and integration programmes. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated capacity to develop and execute strategic plans, driving growth and innovation. Solid understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Desirable: Experience working within or in collaboration with US-based defence primes. Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or other relevant project management certifications are highly desirable. Familiarity with Lockheed Martin’s business, values, and international operations.
