Database SRE Intern
Job Description

In our Information Technology and Global Security team, you will deliver the latest technology infrastructure, transformative software solutions, and industry‑leading global security for our staff and clients. As a Database SRE Intern, you will support the reliability, performance, and day‑to‑day operations of critical database environments, gaining hands‑on exposure to database administration, system reliability practices, and production support within a fast‑paced technology environment.
Responsibilities
* Monitor database performance, backups, alerts, and logs to help ensure availability and operational stability.
* Support the turnover of DDL and DML changes into test and production database environments.
* Help manage database storage, including table spaces, data files, extents, and I/O distribution.
* Set up and manage physical database data structures such as tables, indexes, clusters, and partitions.
* Assist with role‑based security administration and access control support.
* Respond to after‑hours critical system issues as Level 1 support on an on‑call basis, as needed.
* Perform other duties as required in support of database operations and service reliability.
* Complete all assigned, mandatory training within the timeframe provided.
* Conduct and/or participate in regularly scheduled 1:1 meetings with your direct manager and/or direct reports.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from an accredited four‑year college or university, or equivalent.
* Ability to use SQL to query data effectively.
* Understanding of relational database management system (RDBMS) concepts.
* Familiarity with at least one major database platform such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
* Good learning agility and the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
* Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
* Willingness to learn, take initiative, and support operational excellence.
