Overview

Ellen Tinkham School and College, Exeter, part of the Learn to Live Federation, is a Special School for children and young people aged 3 - 19 with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties.

We currently have vacancies across the school and college, to commence as soon as possible. The successful applicants will need to be flexible and willing to work across all age groups, when required.


Responsibilities

You will support students as part of a dedicated class team. We offer a child centred curriculum and you will enable our students to access learning opportunities and to achieve their full potential both educationally and emotionally. You will help deliver pre-planned learning, care and therapy programmes in an inspiring learning environment.

Although previous experience of working with children in an educational setting is preferable, it is equally important to have an interest in SEN, be positive, have enthusiasm, empathy and a willingness to learn and follow instructions. You will have excellent communication skills, be confident using IT, be flexible and resilient.


Working hours and terms

The working hours are 9am to 3.30pm, with a 4:15pm finish once a week to include a team meeting. All positions are term time working, 39 weeks per year. Whilst we welcome applications from those looking for part-time hours, you will still be required to work the core hours of 9am to 3:30pm.

Requirements

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role requires an enhanced DBS disclosure. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English. An online check of publicly available information will be completed to assess shortlisted candidates\u2019 suitability to work with children.
