Overview
Wind OE Project Manager - Renewables role at Mott MacDonald. Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh, UK. This is a permanent position within the Energy unit, delivering wind owner’s engineering projects for clients in the UK, Ireland and worldwide.
Responsibilities
* Project Management
o Lead and manage wind projects from inception to completion, ensuring milestones are met
o Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
o Coordinate with internal teams, clients, external contractors, and stakeholders to achieve objectives
* Owner’s Engineering
o Provide technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle
o Ensure engineering designs, specifications, and drawings are reviewed and approved
o Manage site assessments and feasibility studies to determine viability
o Ensure compliance with local regulations, standards, and best practices
o Provide local know‑how and guidance to the team
o Prepare Engineering Reports (ERs)
* Technical Support
o Prepare technical specifications and tender documents for procurement
o Evaluate bids and proposals from contractors and suppliers
o Provide techno‑commercial support during contract negotiations
o Provide technical assistance during construction, commissioning, and operations
o Prepare performance assessments
* Stakeholder Management
o Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, regulators, and local communities
o Represent the company in technical discussions and negotiations
o Ensure transparent and timely communication with stakeholders
* Quality Assurance
o Implement and monitor quality control processes for deliverables
o Conduct site inspections and audits for compliance
o Manage commissioning and acceptance testing of wind projects
Candidate specification
Essential
* A bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) or related field; a master's degree is preferable but not required
* Experience in Project Management
* Working knowledge of UK wind development, procurement and/or construction
* Knowledge of wind design codes and certification requirements
* Familiarity with international and local standards, codes, and regulations
* Proactivity and problem‑solving attitude
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Proficiency in English, written and verbal
Desirable
* Experience of project management of other disciplines
* APQ certification
* Familiarity with WAsP, WindPRO or other modelling software
* Excellent IT skills (MS Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
* Self-motivation and ability to use initiative
* Experience in a multi‑disciplinary, multicultural engineering environment
* Ability to communicate clearly in English to clients and non‑engineers
* Ability to produce and review technical reports with attention to detail
* Ability to lead/chair meetings and present to stakeholders
* Other languages
