About The Role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Assistant Planner to contribute to our Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland. This role supports the planning team to deliver key sustainability initiatives and meet project objectives.
What you’ll be doing
* Ensure that the programme content is functionally compliant with planning procedures and guidance.
* Develop and agree a logical sequence and methodology in collaboration to adopt the most efficient design, procurement and construction strategy under the supervision of the Lead Planner.
* Produce and document planning deliverables, including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations and reports, and support the creation of the Tender Programme in accordance with tender requirements.
* Assist the planning team in producing, managing and maintaining the contract programme in line with planning procedures.
* Support the Lead Planner in implementing and maintaining project controls processes for scheduling, including producing monthly reports and providing analysis.
* Provide support to the BIM Coordinators to meet project requirements and tender submission deliverables.
* Aid in producing project data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify deviations and enable data‑driven decision making.
Who we’re looking for
* Knowledge of project management tools and software such as Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6 or ASTA.
* Basic understanding of project planning principles, including scheduling and progress monitoring.
* Basic understanding of tender/contract documents and specifications.
* Familiarity with project management methodologies.
* Prior exposure to project planning through internships, coursework or entry‑level positions.
* Practical experience with planning software at a basic level.
* Experience in collaborative projects demonstrating teamwork and communication skills.
* Experience in construction or other transferable sectors.
* Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Strong data and process management skills.
* Effective communication skills.
* Good time‑management skills.
