Overview
We are offering rotational positions between the labour ward and the post/antenatal wards, and will support you to complete a preceptorship programme in line with the NHS National Preceptorship Programme for Midwifery.
Responsibilities
* Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business and adhere to data protection law.
* Comply with the Trust’s policies and procedures, including infection prevention and control, risk management, health and safety, safeguarding children and adults, financial management and use of resources.
* Act at all times in accordance with the professional Codes of Conduct and Accountability relevant to your role.
* Utilise the full skills of a midwife as outlined by the World Health Organisation to ensure individualized care for women and families.
* Be responsible for the management of individualized care to a defined group of mothers and babies by using the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating processes within the multidisciplinary framework.
* Accept shift work to enable a twenty‑four hour service, including on‑calls.
* Develop with colleagues new practice initiatives that are evidence‑based to ensure a first‑class quality service.
* Maintain clinical competence and professional development in all areas of midwifery, meeting the standards set by the knowledge and skills framework in Band 5 and enabling progression to Band 6.
* Facilitate a conducive environment for all learners, enabling staff to reach their full potential to enable career progression.
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and attend meetings while promoting a positive team spirit.
* Make efficient and effective use of resources and review personal and service objectives, ensuring personal annual appraisal and Professional Midwifery Advocate reviews are performed.
* Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with risk management and statutory guidelines, report and act on all accidents and incidents whilst maintaining accurate records.
* Adhere to the NMC Code and meet the Standards of Proficiency for Midwives.
