Main duties of the job
As a member of both the integrated rehabilitation service and the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, you will provide high-quality intervention as an autonomous practitioner. The post holder will work as part of an integrated team to deliver highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients within the elderly and frailty settings. You will work alongside colleagues as an independent practitioner applying a high level of clinical reasoning to ensure individualised, proactive and holistic assessment and treatment planning.
As a Band 6 therapist you will support and develop rotational Band 5 therapists, supervise therapy support staff and educate therapy students on placement. There will be opportunities for innovation and an expectation that you will be actively involved in relevant quality improvement projects to develop the team. The Integrated Rehabilitation Service aims to provide a progressive, forward-thinking approach to patient care while supporting staff development and continued education and training.

Person Specification
Skills, abilities and knowledge
* Good clinical reasoning skills
* Very good knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, cognitive and perceptual functions
* Ability to use a wide range of assessment and treatment techniques
* Committed to life-long learning and continued professional development through post graduate education
* Ability to delegate workload
* Organised approach to clinical and managerial work
* Ability to supervise under-graduate occupational therapists
* Positive approach to data collection and audit
Experience
* A minimum of 18 months of clinical experience as a junior occupational therapist
* Experience in a variety of clinical areas including speciality of post
* B.Sc. in occupational therapy (3 year) or M.Sc. in occupational therapy (2 year) (fast-track qualification with previous degree) or Diploma in occupational therapy (3 year)
* Health & Care Professions Council registration
* Basic kitchen hygiene certificate
* Current driving licence
