Title: Principal Structural Engineer Location: Aberdeen (4 days in office) Description Our client is a leading energy engineering company delivering innovative design and execution solutions across offshore and energy transition projects. The Role Our client is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership and coordination across multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring engineering excellence from concept through to fabrication and installation. Key Responsibilities: Act as the subject matter expert for structural engineering, providing hands-on technical expertise and ensuring project deliverables meet quality and safety standards. Deliver assigned engineering outputs across multiple EPCI projects, coordinating with procurement, fabrication, and construction teams to achieve high-quality results. Review and approve engineering documentation, including calculations, drawings, and specifications. Lead design reviews and ensure compliance with applicable codes and client requirements (ASME, ISO, DNV, API, Eurocodes, etc.). Collaborate across disciplines to ensure fully integrated and optimised designs. Drive innovation through the adoption of new technologies, best practices, and digital engineering tools. Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and collaboration. Support risk assessments, cost control, and budget management within engineering activities. Key Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related). Master’s degree preferred. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working toward chartership with a recognised body (IMechE, ICE, IStructE, etc.). Extensive engineering experience, preferably in offshore or energy sectors. Proven background in EPCI project delivery from concept to completion. Proficient in structural engineering software such as STAAD, MathCAD, ABAQUS, AutoCAD, SIMSOLID, or equivalent. Strong understanding of design principles, industry standards, and construction methodologies. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
