Hutchison Ports – Port of Felixstowe is the UK’s largest deep‑water container port and a major gateway for global trade. As an Engineering Rigger, you will undertake maintenance, repairs and installations to upgrade, maintain and commission rigging installations across the entire Port infrastructure.

Role Overview

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of rigging systems on quay cranes, rubber tyre gantry cranes, rail mounted gantry cranes, and all related workshop equipment across the Port. Provide specialist expertise in rope rigging operations and deliver comprehensive rigging services. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve faults within crane rigging systems as well as utility and container-handling equipment across all three HPUK sites.

Key responsibilities

11. Ensure all maintenance and installation work is carried out effectively while maintaining excellence in Health and Safety.
12. Ensure all wire rope installations and repairs to the Ports plant and equipment is cost effective and completed in a timely manner to minimise operational disruption.
13. Diagnose wire rope related faults and provide regular updates to the planning team via engineering systems and other media.
14. Ensuring that all decision making is based on whether equipment is safe to operate.

What you need

15. Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering and/or Rigging Services.
16. Certified in Mechanical Rigging Services and/or relevant experience on a wide range of rigging maintenance, installations and lifting equipment, including working at height.
17. Full UK Drivers Licence (Manual Required)
18. Engineering Plant Licence (Training can be provided)
19. Demonstrates strong teamwork abilities and communicates effectively with colleagues at all levels.

Shifts & Pay

20. Basic salary: Up to £50,730 dependant on skills and experience.
21. Hours: 40 hours per week
