Lecturer - Occupational Therapy

We are seeking a full-time Lecturer to join the Occupational Therapy team within the School of Healthcare Sciences. The post is based at Heath Park and is open-ended.
Job purpose
Contribute to the facilitation of learning and scholarship activities within the undergraduate and post-qualification provision within the School, including the development, delivery, assessment and evaluation of modules/programmes. Provide support to students via the personal tutee system, supervise students’ research projects, and carry out administrative duties as required. Pursue excellence in teaching and scholarship/research and inspire others to do the same.
Main duties & responsibilities
* Teaching
* Design and deliver teaching on the Occupational Therapy and other relevant programmes as part of a module team and lead modules. Indicate progression to module and course development and lead modules, and provide appropriate assessment feedback.
* Inspire undergraduate and postgraduate students under the guidance of a mentor / module leader and develop skills in assessment methods and in providing constructive feedback to students.
* Supervise the work of students including Undergraduate and Masters students and co-supervision of Postgraduate Research students. Act as a PGR progress review panel member as required.
* Provide pastoral care through acting as a Personal Tutor and providing support and guidance to students, building trust.
Scholarship
* Contribute to scholarship in the area of work through participation in conferences, seminars and other academic and professional forums; disseminate results of scholarship.
* Engage in scholarly activity through journal articles and outputs that advance knowledge; contribute to interdisciplinary work within the university community.
* Carry out other forms of scholarship including work related to assessments, administration, and committee participation.
Other
* Engage with industry, public sector organisations and professional bodies to raise the School’s profile and cultivate collaborations.
* Undertake personal and professional development to enhance performance; mentor colleagues with less experience; participate in School administration and activities; comply with Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity policies; maintain confidentiality.
Person specification
Essential criteria
* Postgraduate degree at PhD level or above in a related subject area and a registrable qualification in Occupational Therapy; a relevant teaching qualification is expected or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and a growing portfolio of scholarship; teaching experience at undergraduate/postgraduate level.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to provide pastoral support and act as a Personal Tutor; ability to coordinate with others to meet student needs.
Desirable criteria
* Ability to work without close supervision; adaptability to changing organisational requirements; willingness to take responsibility for academically related administration.

Salary
£41,064 - £46,049 per annum (Grade 6) or £51,753 - £56,535 per annum (Grade 7). Cardiff University appointments are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
