Domestic Abuse Support Worker - LGBTQ+ Communities
Permanent, Full Time position for Stonewater. Here at Stonewater, we believe there should be someone there for everyone.
This role delivers informed, person-centred, strengths-based support to members of the LGBTQ+ community who are accessing Stonewater’s Brighton Refuge. You will manage a caseload, support clients to articulate their aspirations, and help them realise their potential. As an ambassador for Brighton Refuge, you will assist in administering referrals, with a focus on safety planning that reflects the individual’s identity and any associated risks. You will work with specialist support agencies and statutory organisations, including local and national LGBTQ+ charities and support organisations.
You will advocate for clients and support their progression out of the service in a planned, positive way.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of clients through their journey with a strengths-based, outcome-focused approach.
* Administer referrals into the Brighton Refuge service and coordinate safety planning tailored to each individual.
* Collaborate with specialist support agencies, mental health teams, and other services to meet client needs.
* Advocate for clients and support transitions out of the service in a positive, planned manner.
* Develop relationships with local and national LGBTQ+ charities and support organisations to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications and experience
* Proven experience of working with the LGBTQ+ community.
* Understanding of the practical, emotional, economic, and social differences experienced by LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those affected by Domestic Abuse, Hate Crime, or Discrimination.
* Experience in caseload management with a clear focus on outcomes for customers and their wider community.
* Experience in carrying out robust safety planning.
* Ability to work in partnership with specialist agencies and services.
* Specialist knowledge of local and national LGBTQ+ charities and support organisations.
* Exceptional communication skills.
* Knowledge of housing and benefits advice (desirable).
