We have a fantastic opportunity for full-time Ambulance Care Assistants to join our team based in Shrewsbury.
An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding role. Each day, you will be helping someone in need, and knowing you make a difference to their day provides a real sense of achievement.
Responsibilities
* Transport elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This can be carried out as two-person crews or alone; you must hold a full UK driving licence and have a good degree of physical fitness.
* Assist with lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
* Assist with handing over patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres or to family/friends at their homes.
* Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar both in and out of hospital and medical flights.
* Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
* Ensure the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy.
Other duties include
* Assisting in the transportation of end of life service users, ensuring a high level of empathy at all times.
* Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
* Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
* Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar both in and out of hospital and medical/air transport.
* Assisting service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
* Ensuring that the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy.
Qualifications
* Committed to patient care.
* An effective communicator with experience in handling emotional circumstances.
* Calm, considerate driver with no more than three penalty points on your license.
* Natural flair for teamwork and collaboration.
* Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
* Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
* Be able to work flexible shifts.
* Familiar with the local and surrounding area.
