Job Overview
Teach Now is seeking a committed and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) experience to support deaf pupils in a welcoming mainstream primary school in Harrow. This full-time role begins December 2025 and continues until July 2026, with strong potential for extension for the right candidate.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the learning, development, and confidence of pupils with hearing impairments within an inclusive educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to deaf pupils across EYFS–KS2
• Use BSL to facilitate communication, understanding, and inclusive access to learning
• Support pupils in classroom activities, routines and transitions
• Collaborate closely with teachers, the SENCO, and hearing impairment specialists
• Adapt learning materials, visuals and resources to meet individual needs
• Promote independence, emotional wellbeing and social development
• Contribute to effective SEND provision within a mainstream environment
Requirements
• BSL Level 1 qualification (minimum); Level 2 or above desirable
• Experience supporting deaf pupils or children with hearing impairments
• Confident, clear communicator using Sign Language
• Patient, adaptable and committed to inclusive practice
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to follow guidance
• Full-time availability (Monday–Friday)
