Vision: For Sheffield to become the best city in the world to experience death, dying and grief.
Mission: Working together to reduce inequalities and improve experiences of death, dying and grief by building confidence and skills with individuals, communities and organisations.
Make a difference where it matters most
In Sheffield, people should be able to live, and die, in a city that supports compassion, dignity and connection. The Compassionate Sheffield Programme exists to make this a reality, and we’re looking for an inspiring Community Change Project Manager to help lead this work.
This is a rare opportunity to create meaningful cultural change around death, dying and grief across communities, organisations, and the wider end-of-life system. If you are passionate about community development, partnership working and impactful project delivery, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll do
As our Community Change Project Manager, you will:
Lead programme planning and delivery
* Shape, coordinate and deliver projects across the Compassionate Sheffield Programme.
* Ensure all activity aligns to our strategic vision, mission and KPIs.
* Evaluate impact and embed continuous improvement.
Build powerful partnerships
* Work closely with community groups, organisations and system partners to reduce inequalities and create lasting cultural change.
* Lead stakeholder engagement, communication planning and relationship development.
* Communicate with sensitivity and confidence on complex and emotive topics.
* Create a culture of openness, collaboration and shared purpose.
* Lead coordination and delivery of our annual festival, bringing communities together.
Lead and empower others
* Provide visionary leadership to the Programme Team.
* Foster dispersed leadership, learning and growth.
* Use evidence, insight and stories to motivate, inspire and guide.
Ensure effective governance and resource management
* Oversee programme governance, risk management and quality assurance.
* Manage budgets, procurement and commissioning as required.
This role includes occasional evening and weekend work to support community engagement and events.
What you’ll bring

* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
* Skilled in project and programme management (PRINCE2/MSP or equivalent).
* Experienced in partnership development and stakeholder management.
* Knowledgeable about community development approaches.
* Understanding of the end-of-life system (desirable but not essential).
* A confident communicator with the ability to lead on sensitive and complex topics.
* Motivated by equity, inclusion and reducing inequalities.
At St Luke’s, our staff are the heart of our mission. You will:
* Play a key role in transforming Sheffield’s approach to death, dying and grief.
* Work within a supportive organisation with strong values and a bold vision.
* Shape a high-impact programme in collaboration with communities and partners.
* Be part of a culture that prioritises learning, innovation and compassion.
You will also have access to training, supervision, development opportunities and a workplace committed to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
