Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice to the Council and all departments as the dedicated Energy Officer.
* Take responsibility for the purchase, management and coordination of the Council’s gas, electric and water contracts.
* Evaluate energy and water usage within the Council and devise policies to minimize consumption to meet set targets.
* Oversee a programme of low‑carbon capital funding schemes, supporting capital projects across operational, leisure and schools portfolios, maximizing funding such as the Climate Capital Fund and Green Buildings Fund.
About You
* Detailed knowledge of procurement and finance practices, project management experience and a technical or energy‑related qualification; membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
* Proven track record in developing and implementing energy‑efficiency programmes, evaluating usage, devising consumption‑reduction policies, and managing procurement of energy contracts.
* Strong understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice and current developments in energy conservation and sustainability.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong performance management capabilities, sound IT skills and a commitment to high standards of health and safety, equality and diversity.
* Flexible to work outside normal hours when required and able to travel within and around the borough.
About Us
This role is part of the Facilities Management (FM) team. The FM Service supports approximately 50 corporate Council buildings and provides FM helpdesk, caretaking, post, cleaning, pest control, security, planned preventive maintenance and reactive repair services.
