Role Overview
The University of Sheffield International College is seeking a Chemistry tutor to join our Science Team. The role involves teaching the Level 3 Foundation Chemistry module to international students in both classroom and laboratory settings. Responsibilities include marking assessments, providing feedback, and utilizing IT skills related to teaching, including Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs). The role may also encompass acting as a module coordinator, leading the teaching team, conducting Quality Assurance, updating teaching materials, and developing assessments.
Responsibilities
1. Teach Chemistry, a Level 3 module, to groups of international students in classroom and laboratory settings.
2. Mark assessments and provide feedback to students.
3. Utilize IT skills related to teaching, including VLEs.
4. Potentially act as a module coordinator.
5. Lead the teaching team and carry out Quality Assurance procedures.
6. Ensure teaching materials are current and relevant.
7. Create formative and summative assessments.
Candidate Profile
1. A degree in Chemistry or a related discipline; relevant teaching experience in a loosely related discipline may be considered.
2. Experience teaching Chemistry or related disciplines in UK Higher Education, Further Education, or Sixth Form.
3. Experience in assessment marking at RQF Level 3 or above (e.g., A-level, Foundation level).
4. Flexible and adaptable with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
5. Proficiency in teaching and administrative IT skills, including Virtual Learning Environments (e.g., Blackboard).
