Overview

Our Client an International Commodity Trading Company are currently seeking aa Assistant Management Accountant, to join the busy and very effective Finance and Accounting team.

This role will provide support for financial reporting, controlling, and cash management for the precious metals trading business based in London. The position assists with daily finance and controlling activities and is involved in the full accounting cycle, from bookkeeping through to reporting.

The role operates as a key member of the Finance & Controlling team, working closely with trading, operations, and commercial teams. It also collaborates with various functions and engages with staff at different levels across the UK and other locations, as well as with external stakeholders.

This position is an integral part of the Finance & Controlling team, actively collaborating with trading, operations, and commercial departments. The role involves regular interaction with colleagues from a broad range of functions and hierarchical levels, both within the UK and at international sites. Additionally, the management accountant works with external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and cooperation to support business objectives.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Support metals trading accounting activities, including preparing and analysing daily trading reports, performing broker reconciliations, and monitoring margin risk requirements.
2. Assist Treasury and Accounts Payable functions with key activities such as cash management, processing payments and bank reconciliation.
3. Assist performing foreign exchange reconciliations including appropriate hedges for non-trade transactions.
4. Processing trade/non-trade vendor invoices and monitoring weekly vendor payment run.
5. Supporting month-end reporting which includes posting of journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheets reporting, also assist in year-end reporting.
6. Actively supporting opportunities to digitalise processes whilst ensuring data integrity.

Knowledge and Experience

7. Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related discipline.
8. 2/3 years of experience in similar role
9. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
10. Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
12. Experience from within the commodity trading or financial services industry.

13. This position is reported directly to the Finance Manager.

16. Organisational relationships are complex as this business operates on a global level. Close cooperation with corporate functions is required.

19. Interact frequently with members of the business unit in the region, local finance/treasury organisations and corporate departments.
