Year 6 Graduate Teaching Assistant

Ready to help pupils hit their SATs targets?

Support Year 6 with focused boosters that close gaps and build confidence.

*** Year 6 Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** £81 - £102 per day
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** ‘Good’ primary school, Wolverhampton
*** Provide booster sessions and support (SATs preparation)

The Role:
You will deliver short, high impact interventions that track the Year 6 plan and mock calendar. In maths you will tighten arithmetic fluency, fractions, decimals, percentages and multi-step reasoning using clear worked examples and guided practice. In reading you will build stamina, teach question types and develop evidence-based answers. You will model planning for extended responses, refine grammar and punctuation accuracy, and teach timing so pupils finish under pressure. You will use past paper items, retrieval routines and quick diagnostics to identify gaps early, then record brief outcomes and agree next steps with the class teacher so support stays aligned with upcoming assessments. You will help keep lessons calm with tidy resources, predictable routines and smooth transitions.

The Candidate & Requirements:
You are clear, organised and focused on measurable progress.
1. Degree, 2:2 or above in any subject.
2. Communication, strong written and spoken English with precise feedback.
3. Enhanced DBS, held already or willingness to obtain.
4. Desire to work in education, commitment to Year 6 progress and wellbeing.
5. Experience working with children is desirable but not essential.

The School:
This ‘Good’ Wolverhampton primary runs consistent routines from arrival to home time. Year 6 teams co plan sequenced units and share model answers, lean revision packs and item banks, so your sessions dovetail with classroom teaching. Reading has protected daily time with explicit vocabulary instruction. Maths is taught in small, connected steps with frequent low stakes checks that surface misconceptions early. New colleagues receive a clear induction, weekly bite size CPD and focused coaching so your impact is visible quickly and you build strong evidence for teacher training.
