About the role:
To lead and manage the admin staff within the Transport Department, ensuring all assets are operated effectively and are always compliant.
Role specifics:
1. Plan, direct, and coordinate the operation of the LGV fleet.
2. Ensure full fleet compliance with company policies and legal legislation.
3. Review and report OCRS scores regularly and correlate maintenance failures.
4. Monitor driver infringements and implement corrective actions.
5. Maintain vehicles in optimal condition from delivery to disposal.
6. Conduct regular supplier reviews.
7. Control costs and expenditures within budget.
8. Notify the Traffic Commissioner of penalties or changes in situation.
9. Lead and manage staff within the Transport Department.
10. Ensure operating centres do not breach vehicle margins.
11. Provide support to the network, including CPC coverage at each site.
12. Monitor & report MOT pass rates and respond proactively to failures.
13. Record and investigate all vehicle accidents accurately.
14. Keep fleet database up to date and accurate.
15. Analyze and reposition vehicles with over mileage.
16. Manage spot hire vehicles and trailers as required.
17. Ensure a consistent fuel supply for the company.
18. Maintain compliance and maintenance of all MHE within the network.
19. Coordinate with accounts to supply purchase orders for expenditure.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. LGV licence (desirable).
2. Excellent knowledge of road transport legislation.
3. Good understanding of Drivers Hours Regulations and Working Time Regulations.
4. People development skills and outlook.
