Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer (General Civils and Residential) – Bristol

What Are We Looking For?
We seek a talented individual who can deliver a high-quality service, think outside the box, and enjoys a collaborative approach to developing pragmatic and innovative design solutions to the various technical challenges land development can present. The individual should have experience leading projects and teams while also being comfortable getting hands‑on with the technical design and production of drawings and documentation.
We are looking for a candidate who has a good understanding of Civil Engineering best practice and standards, and the technical design skills to produce high quality work on a range of projects. The individual will need to use their initiative and professional judgment to support our client’s projects and goals.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
* BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or a related qualification plus 6+ years relevant postgraduate experience, ideally Chartered or Incorporation with a professional body such as ICE.
* Demonstrable ability to lead in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes, including highways, drainage, levels and plot engineering. Experience taking an independent holistic lead role on major projects and managing a junior team.
* Ability to design using best practice guidance such as Manual for Streets, Design and Construction Guidance, CIRIA SUDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations and local authority design standards.
* Ability to prepare drawings and calculations for private and adoptable arrangements, including obtaining ordinary watercourse consent and technical approval from key approving authorities in relation to S104 and S38 section agreements.
* Numerate and software literate with experience of AutoCAD, 3‑D modelling software such as Civil 3D or similar, and drainage modelling software such as Causeway Flow.
* Ability to manage non‑technical project aspects such as contract management—including financials, programme and resourcing—and client‑facing roles.
* Consultancy/private sector development background with a pragmatic approach and understanding of residential development schemes from concept to construction.
* Effective organisation and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
