Job summary
To work as an integrated member of the operating theatre team. To assist staff in the movement and positioning of equipment. To relay specimens when required. To respond rapidly to urgent requests. To ensure the safe transportation of patients to and from the department and within the department. To ensure the clean and safe conditions of theatres before, after, and in between cases. Preparation and tidying of stores in theatres and the theatre unit.
Main duties of the job
To work alongside the multidisciplinary team in assisting with the smooth running of the 8 Operating Theatres and one obstetric theatre, being flexible and adaptable to emergency situations and responding to the needs of the Operating staff.

Job description
Job responsibilities
* Transport patients safely between wards and the Operating Department, assist in moving medical and surgical equipment.
* Move dirty and clean instrument trolleys within the theatre and SSD complex.
* Maintain equipment and report faults to senior staff.
* Collect blood, products, and specimens.
* Clean equipment, manage stores and SSD supplies, and maintain stock including sunlight drapes.
* Ensure safe disposal of rubbish and fluid bags/boxes.
* Assist in ordering, storing, and distributing IV fluids for Pharmacy.
Person Specification
Experience
* Essential: Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Desirable: Good communication skills, Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent.
Skills and ED&I
* Essential: Evidence of championing diversity and undertaking personal development to understand equalities issues.
