You will join the established Tayside Cardiology Registrar on call rota including supporting the 24/7 Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) service. You will contribute to general Registrar activities including Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and ward cover as “registrar of the week”. There will be opportunities to gain exposure to cardiology procedures and the post is envisaged as an excellent opportunity to start on the career path in Cardiology.
The Cardiology Department at Ninewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary provides an in-patient and out-patient cardiology service for patients in Dundee and surrounding areas, Perth and Kinross, Angus and North East Fife. The spacious CCU has 9 monitored beds with facilities for x-ray screening and haemodynamic monitoring and dialysis. There is a 30 bedded Cardiology Ward with telemetry beds. There will be opportunities to participate in outpatient clinics both general and sub specialist.
Non-invasive facilities include cardiac imaging transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echo, cardiac MRI and a CT coronary angiography service. The service includes a main cardiac catheter laboratory with second mobile catheter lab for pacing and PCI overflow. There will be an opportunity for exposure to both coronary angiography/ PCI and pacemaker implantation (including complex devices). A Ninewells electrophysiology service is now well developed.
