Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship – Special School (Ages 11–19, Autism)

About the role:
This Teaching Assistant role is based in a specialist school for young people aged 11–19 with autism, located in Leeds. The school is ambitious, nurturing, and dedicated to supporting students with a wide range of needs. They are looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic apprentice, with a start date of February 2025.
You will provide tailored support to students to help them access learning, develop independence, and reach their individual potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
* Assisting with the planning and delivery of differentiated lessons
* Supporting students with their educational, social, emotional, and behavioural development
* Preparing and adapting learning resources to meet individual needs
* Providing feedback to teachers and contributing to reviews and support plans
* Supporting students during transitions and unstructured times
* Assisting with enrichment and life-skills activities where appropriate

The ideal candidate:
* Enthusiastic and passionate about supporting young people with autism
* Patient, caring, and resilient
* Strong numeracy and literacy skills
* Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students
* Willingness to commit to a minimum of 12 months to complete the course
* Not currently enrolled in any other government-funded programme
* Available during school holidays to complete 20 hours of online training each half-term
