Supporting Your New Career Journey
Throughout your first year in post, you will participate in our Newly Qualified Midwifery Programme, designed to support your transition from student to confident, capable, and professional midwife. This programme includes:
1. Corporate and specialist induction
2. A structured period of preceptorship
3. Clinical supervision sessions
4. Flying Start – Scotland’s national development programme for newly qualified nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals
As a Band 5 Midwife, you’ll be supported daily by experienced colleagues, including Charge Midwives, Senior Charge Midwives, and Lead Midwives. Our Practice Development Team will also be on hand to support your growth in knowledge, clinical skills, and career progression.

If you’re not yet familiar with Glasgow and the surrounding area, you’ll find it offers an exciting mix of urban living, beautiful countryside, and coastal escapes. Glasgow – Scotland’s largest city – is vibrant, culturally rich, and welcoming.
Excellent transport links make commuting easy across East and West Dunbartonshire, Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, and the city of Glasgow itself.
