An exciting opportunity for a full-time Band 6 Occupational Therapist has arisen within the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in the Bolton directorate of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH).
The post holder will deliver holistic occupational therapy assessments and interventions to service users on the PICU, establishing levels of function, engaging in their roles, and supporting recovery and discharge planning. This may include assessments for housing or alternative hospital settings and identifying long-term occupational therapy needs.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing functional and cognitive assessments and interventions to support recovery in PICU.
2. Managing complex physical and mental health needs using evidence-based, client-centred principles.
3. Working with service users and their families individually or in groups.
4. Providing advice to junior staff and students.
5. Participating in planning and developing OT pathways within PICU.
6. Supervising OT students on placement.
7. Adhering to HCPC standards and professional codes.

The successful candidate will join an established inpatient OT team, working alongside other OTs and support staff, and will be involved in developing OT pathways within PICU.
Bolton PICU is a 6-bed male unit based at Royal Bolton Hospital, also including two adult acute mental health wards.
We seek a skilled, enthusiastic, and motivated OT with excellent communication skills, committed to evidence-based practice and recovery-focused interventions.
You will be supported through supervision, development opportunities, and involvement in service development initiatives.
